Eco-design at CLAREO
At CLAREO, the eco-design of our luminaires is a major focus that we place at the heart of our concerns. We integrate it into all stages of our products' lifecycle to offer you luminaires designed in a responsible and thoughtful manner.
Manufacturing, use, repairability, and end of life: discover now how eco-design translates at each of these stages at CLAREO.
The manufacturing of our luminaires
At CLAREO, we believe that an engaged approach begins first and foremost with the thoughtful manufacturing of our lighting products. To achieve this, we implement several actions that reduce their energy consumption.
• The design of our luminaires
CLAREO is committed to offering you products that promote your energy efficiency plan as much as possible through luminaires:
- With a luminous efficiency of up to 160 lm/W for high energy efficiency and resulting energy savings.
- With a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours to limit maintenance costs.
- Modular in their functionalities (examples: luminaires equipped with power and/or color temperature selectors to reduce the quantity of stored and transported products), or in their accessories (examples: detectors that can be clipped onto products, interchangeable colored collars...).
- With external drivers to be chosen as accessories to significantly reduce the quantity of stored products and therefore obsolete products.
- As light as possible, even on our industrial ranges.

• The packaging of our luminaires

Once our products are manufactured, CLAREO's commitments continue throughout their distribution. And this involves, in particular, the constant search for optimizations in our product packaging:
- Our first action was to reduce their size as much as possible. This allows us to transport a larger volume of products in the same given space, thereby reducing the carbon footprint related to their transport.
- In addition to this, our packaging is now made of raw cardboard, with information written in black ink. Thanks to this new packaging method, we guarantee optimal recycling of our product packaging and a more positive impact on the environment.
- Practically all of the plastic films in our packaging have been removed and/or replaced with other recyclable solutions (cardboard or fabric).
Here are some other examples of concrete actions on our packaging:
Ingeniously stacked, our START range DomeLEDs allow a 50% reduction in the volume of their packaging.

Our eco-design commitments also continue during the use of our luminaires since, by nature, LED technology allows up to 83% energy savings compared to a conventional lighting system, particularly thanks to a longer lifespan.
In addition to this, this positive impact is also promoted by the high luminous efficiency of our luminaires, which we strive to improve year after year. Indeed, since a very large part of a luminaire's carbon footprint is linked to its use and significant energy consumption over time, the high luminous efficiency of our luminaires therefore allows for a considerable reduction in their carbon footprint over the long term.
This is why we offer luminaires with a luminous efficiency of up to 160 lm/W that will effectively support you in your energy transition projects.

The repairability of our luminaires
At CLAREO, we are convinced that the lifecycle of our products does not end after their simple use. Indeed, whether it's their source, their driver, or even their accessories: more than 90% of our luminaires are repairable.
Here are some concrete examples of the repairability of our luminaires:
• Replaceable components available for sale as spare parts
Luminaires with replaceable external driver
Since the main cause of end-of-life for LED lighting is related to their power supply, 100% of our products with external drivers can be repaired by using a new driver. This is the case, for example, with our LED panels, LED strips, or LED downlights equipped with an external driver.
Luminaires with replaceable source
To offer you the possibility of replacing the light source of your end-of-life lighting, some of our luminaires like our E27 DomeLEDs from the START range are equipped with a replaceable E27 LED source. This is also the case for our HighBays whose printed circuit board and driver are easily unscrewable.
Luminaires with replaceable accessories
Because the repairability of our products is closely linked to the replacement of their accessories, CLAREO offers you a wide selection of accessories for each of our luminaires. Whether it's suspension wires for your LED panels, quarter-turn connectors to connect your drivers, or reflectors for your LED HighBays, all these accessories are available for sale as spare parts to allow you to repair your luminaires.

• Luminaires with a repairability guide
Like our Astral DomeLEDs or most of our LED downlights, some of our products come with a repairability guide.
This guide will allow you to understand how to easily disassemble and replace their light source.
In addition to allowing you to easily change their light source, the disassembly steps are useful for easier recycling of each component.
The end of life of our luminaires
Because our support doesn't stop there, eco-design is also at the heart of our concerns during the last stage of our products' lifecycle: their end of life.
• The recycling of our luminaires
CLAREO is committed to helping you manage your end-of-life luminaires in the following ways:
- We work with the eco-organization ecosystem that helps us recover waste related to our used luminaires. By taking care of collecting, depolluting, and then recycling your used electrical equipment, this organization thus helps us daily to reduce the environmental impact of our used luminaires.
- CLAREO has pre-joined Valobat which recycles building products.

• CLAREO acts in favor of solidarity and the environment

According to ADEME, 4.3 billion euros worth of non-food industrial products were not sold and were manufactured "for nothing". And yet nearly one in three French people must very often give up buying non-food essential products.
To act on our scale in the face of this inconsistency, we recently called upon COMERSO to donate our unsold items to an association. An operation that allows us to act in favor of solidarity and the environment.
The association benefiting from these donations is Emmaüs Avenir Neuilly. Its mission? To fight against exclusion and poverty through solidarity, unconditional welcome, autonomy through activity, and sustainable development.
In total, 22 pallets were sent to the association, representing over 5,000 items. Part of the donations is used in DIY workshops, while the other part will be sold at a symbolic price in the solidarity store. The sales proceeds are thus used to finance reception and accommodation structures, salaries for support workers, and solidarity projects.
