Clareo ensures secure online payment for your orders by using Crédit Mutuel - CIC p@iement, one of the most advanced providers of information systems and security.

Quick and easy payment with "CM-CIC P@iement"

Paying online with "Paiement CIC" is as easy as paying by card in "everyday" life. To pay for your purchases from Clareo, simply:

  • to have a bank card (Carte Bleue, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or a single-use virtual card)
  • to select "CM-CIC payment" when choosing a payment method.

Paying for your purchases with « Paiement CM-CIC » incurs no additional fees. For your security, data exchanged during transactions is encrypted.

Do your customers sometimes have questions about paying online? Here are the most frequently asked questions and the answers you can give them.

Is paying with CM-CIC p@iement secure?

When you make an online purchase using CM-CIC p@iement, the entire transaction takes place on our banking site over an encrypted connection. You temporarily leave the merchant’s site to enter your bank card details. This guarantees that:

  • the merchant will never know your card number
  • CM-CIC p@iement cannot see the details of your purchases, as the merchant sends us only the total amount and order number.

What security measures does CM-CIC p@iement use?

CM-CIC p@iement uses the standard encryption system known as "the SSL protocol". When you are on the payment page, you can recognize it by:

  • An icon should appear in a corner of your browser. For a secure connection, the padlock icon must be closed.
  • In your browser’s address bar, the address begins with " https://" instead of "http://".
  • When you switch from an unencrypted connection to an encrypted one, or vice versa, browsers display a message alerting you to the change.

Check these indicators before entering confidential information to help ensure your security. We recommend using the latest version of your browser to benefit from the strongest protocols.

What information is needed to use CM-CIC p@iement?

On the CM-CIC p@iement site, we will ask you for:

  • the bank card or store card number (15 or 16 digits)
  • the expiration date
  • the card security code (the last 3 or 4 digits on your card’s signature strip)

With the introduction of 3D Secure (identified by the "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode" logos), your bank will also ask you to authenticate your payment by entering confidential information on your bank’s own website.

What is online card theft?

The risk of your bank card number being "stolen" when you buy a product on a website using CM-CIC p@iement is extremely low.

Fraudulent use of bank card numbers does occur. It most often happens when someone finds or steals a bank card number and uses it to shop online.

The bank card number is valid because its rightful holder continues to use the card, unaware of the fraud. Card validity checks therefore cannot identify the offender. Only 3D Secure reduces this risk, because it also requires you to authenticate with your bank.

Your protections

  • Thanks to our SSL (Secure Socket Layer) secure payment system, the bank card information you provide (number and expiration date) is not transmitted over the internet in plain text and is sent only to Société Générale’s server.
  • If your card is lost or stolen, no purchases can be made with it once you have reported it and had it blocked.

How a transaction works

  • On each product page of our site, you can add the product to your virtual cart. If you do, click "Order" in the main menu to confirm your order. You can then review the contents of your cart and will be asked to complete an order form
  • When you submit this order form, it will be sent to our server, which will check the validity of the information and the availability of the products ordered
  • You will then be directed to CIC’s secure payment server, where the transaction will switch to secure mode to protect the confidentiality of the information you provide. Société Générale’s server will ask you to select your credit card type.
