Does paying online raise questions from your customers? Here are the most frequently asked questions and the answers you can provide them.

Is payment with CM-CIC p@iement secure?

When making a purchase on a website equipped with CM-CIC p@iement, the entire transaction takes place on our banking site in encrypted mode. You temporarily leave the merchant's site seamlessly to record your banking details. This guarantees that:

  • the merchant will never know your card number
  • CM-CIC p@iement will not know any details of your purchases since only the total amount and order number are transmitted to us by the merchant.

What security measures does CM-CIC p@iement use?

CM-CIC p@iement uses the standardized encryption system called "SSL protocol". When you are on the payment page, this is shown by:

  • A pictogram in a corner of your browser: one of these signs must be present. padlock logos present during a secure connection: The padlock must be closed.
  • In your browser's address bar, the browser is in "https://" mode instead of "http://".
  • When you switch from non-encrypted mode to encrypted mode (and vice versa), browsers display a message warning you of the change.

Check these elements before entering confidential data, it's a security guarantee. To use the most powerful protocols, we recommend using the latest version of your browser.

What information is needed to use CM-CIC p@iement?

On the CM-CIC p@iement site, we will ask you for:

  • bank card or store card number (15 or 16 digit numbers)
  • expiration date
  • the visual cryptogram (last 3 or 4 digits on the signature strip of your card)

With the deployment of 3D Secure (recognizable by the "Verified By Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode" logos), your bank will also ask you during payment to authenticate yourself with confidential information to be entered on your own bank's web page.

What is internet hacking?

The risk of having your bank card number "hacked" when you buy a product on a website equipped with CM-CIC p@iement is minimal.

Fraudulent uses of bank card numbers do exist. They most often result from another phenomenon: a malicious individual who has found or stolen a bank card number uses this number to make purchases online.

The bank card number is valid, as its real holder is using it carelessly. Bank card validation systems cannot therefore detect the offender. Only 3D Secure reduces this risk as you must also authenticate yourself with your bank.

Your guarantees

  • Thanks to our SSL (Secure Socket Layer) secure payment system, the information you provide about your bank card (number and expiration date) does not circulate in clear text on the Internet and is only transmitted to the Société Générale server.
  • If your card is lost or stolen, no purchases can be made with it if it has been blocked.

Transaction process

  • On each product page of our site, you have the option to add it to your virtual cart. If you choose to add it to your cart, you will need to click on "order" in the main menu to validate your order. You will then see a summary of your cart contents and will be asked to fill out an order form
  • When you validate this order form, it will be transmitted to our server which will verify the validity of the information as well as the availability of the ordered products
  • You will then be directed to CIC's secure payment server, the transaction will then switch to secure mode ensuring the confidentiality of the information provided. The Société Générale server will ask you for the type of credit card.
