The interview

Could you briefly tell us about the project?

" Designed by the Jean-Pierre Lott architectural firm, the Studium is a new multidisciplinary venue comprising a library, student house, auditorium, and university restaurant. It is a true forum of knowledge and living space at the University of Strasbourg.

This building, spanning over 10,000 m² across 7 levels, can accommodate up to 700 students simultaneously. "

What were CLAREO's strengths during the project?

" After collaborating with CLAREO on smaller projects, we wanted to consult them for support on this much larger project. From the very beginning, CLAREO was extremely responsive in guiding us through the lighting studies. Additionally, the prices for the product range were very competitive, which was important for us. "

How would you describe your experience with the DIALux Studies Unit and the Custom Projects Unit?

" The placement of lighting fixtures was predetermined for this project, but since the building was architecturally quite complex, all volumes needed to be modeled. The support from the various units and our sales representative was highly appreciated throughout the project. There's great follow-up, you never feel lost, the service teams get back to you directly, there's no need to chase them, it's very pleasant. "

The design of 550 custom light lines

"The product initially requested by the architect was not in the CLAREO catalog. Our sales representative was proactive and assisted us in creating the required custom product according to our specifications. We adapted the size of the luminaire, its weight, and also its installation method to meet the constraints imposed by the building's perforated false ceiling.

On some levels, there were more than 100 LineLEDs to be installed on a single floor. The project architect wanted a deliberately irregular layout. The challenge was therefore to successfully install the luminaires in a disordered manner, but in accordance with expectations, to create this highly designed effect."
